The Best Way To Spread Christmas Cheer
Is singing loud for all to hear! Yes, I am starting this post with a quote from the movie elf. Cause really singing Christmas carols is one of my favorite things even though I really can't sing! Anyways the Christmas countdown is on and I am nowhere near ready for what is about to happen. I and the boy are having a Christmas party, the boy is coming with me to Indiana for his first Christmas with my families, and then we still have to do Christmas with his family! Ahhh so much to do!
So in an effort so save some money this year I decided to use some of the yarn I have to make things to go with gifts or in the case of my work party I made the whole gift! I really wanted to make a gift set so I used some patterns that have talked about before. So I made a set that includes mittens, head warmer, and boot cuffs. This was my first attempt at making my own fair isles pattern.
I think it turned out pretty well overall. The mitten pattern I used is called Warmest Mittens. It is really easy if you are trying mittens for the first time is is a great place to start. I have also been making these crochet knotted headbands to go with it. I just used a pattern that I found on google and they are rather quick and easy to make all you need is to be able to double crochet.
Ch 70, dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc evenly across (68 sts)
Repeat this till band is the desired thickness, normally about 6 rows.
Seams end together, then where it is seamed cinch the rows to make it pucker.
To create the knot part ch 10, dc in 2ch from hook, dc across (8sts). Ch 3 turn and dc across. Repeat like this till you have 8 rows.
Finish off and seam together over the seam and cinched part of the headband! And your are done!
Quick easy and will make some great last minute Christmas gifts.
I am absolutely loving our Christmas decorated apartment, but I think kitten hates it cause she keeps destroying things
Anyways I couldn't be more blessed this holiday season. It looks like I might have found an internship. I can't wait to see my family over this next month and everyone in my life has been so supportive of me in my search my dream job. More updates and post as the come along but I'm sure I won't get around to another one till after Christmas. MerryChristmas and happy New Years! If it takes me that long till I get to a new project!
