Granny Time

As I go into week three of work I have found myself asking why haven't made anything lately. I started this post several weeks ago thinking that I would write a post about granny squares and what I am planning to do with them. My plan was to make one a day so that it will be quick to finish my project. So here is it. I don't have much stash yarn with me but I wanted to try and use what I can before spending money on my knitting (broke intern life).

I have these three large European size pillows. They were once blue and now they are covered in zebra for the animal print phase I went through in college. They no longer go with any of my room decor, and there are no pillow cases for them. So to cover them I came up with the idea of making several granny squares and sewing them over the pillows like a pillowcase.

I started with granny square patterns on Ravelry. where all of my start I feel like. I found the Sunburst Granny Square pattern.

I liked this pattern because it was quick easy and it actually turned out square! When I tried to work a traditional granny square it came out kind of round. In this style, the end shape really is what id should be.
I told you I really haven't worked as much on this project as I would like to. So far I have 4 squares and they do not match at all. So, as time goes on and I make more squares hopefully they will look as awesome as I think they will.

Today I was supposed to work my internship and then go to a shift at LOFT, but I got out of my LOFT shift and have been at home all afternoon. I didn't know what to do with all this down time. So, I figured I would pick up the Pine Bough Cowl project that has been on the back burner for a while. I pull it out of my back to find out that my circular needle snapped!
I have the set of Boyle interchangeable needles and the needle screws onto the cording and blah blah blah....anyway they needle has snapped off the cording. So now I only have 1 size 4 needle and I can't use this length connector. Saving this project has just become the priority, I have no way to really save the stitches right now. I wonder if you can buy replacement pieces? AHHH knitting just got way to stressful for my liking.

The countdown to Opening Day of baseball season is on. Once it is here I feel that I won't have as much down time as I do now. Even though I haven't been that best at updates  I'm unsure if with baseball season it will get better or worse. I want to try and complete at least one project this month if for anything else than keeping my cold self-busy. Maine is cold and there is like 10 inches snow frozen solid on my front lawn and I have yet to see temperatures above 50. I'm hoping that it starts looking like baseball season here real soon. I miss the boy and kitten. It's weird all the little things you miss when you are away, but I really think that being up here and this internship experience is going to be a great thing for me. I have already been put in charge of helping to create a few theme nights Daddy Daughter Date and possibly a Star Wars theme night are in the works for the season. I can't wait for things to pick up during baseball season. I need more things to do! Joined and gym and got a library card but it not enough I still have a way to much down time.
